Wowie I haven't updated my website in a REALLY long time. And I wonder why I don't get any traffic.. x_x

Anyways since visiting Willamette.. uh.. a lot has happened! I graduated, first of all, and I turned 18! whoo. I did NOT go do Willamette but I am currently sitting at my laptop in my dorm room at the University of California in Davis, California. That's UC Davis for short. I'm glad I came here, too, it's really nice here and everybody's so friendly and the professors are all nice (so far) and I got to join the marching band! This was the only school I got into with a marching band, too. And wow is it ever a fun marching band!

I was planning to update this site a LOT over the summer but.. I bought Final Fantasy XI and it consumed my life for the past 3 months. I can't play it at the moment though because I can't figure out how to get the registration number for my PS2.. and I can't hook a machine up to the internet on campus without the registration number. *sigh* I miss my FFXI.. but at least now I can update my website maybe. Got lots of plans for it.

So I'll try to be more diligent about updating, especially this part. What can I share now? Hmm.. Well, I'm currently declared an English major but I'm going to try to switch into Engineering. Maybe. I definitely want to switch out of the English major though. I think. God I wish I knew what I wanted to do! =D I'm thinking my new dream may be to learn programming and Japanese and move to Japan to work for my personal god: Squaresoft. I will make video games! Yarr!

Anyways at the moment I am taking the following classes: Birds, Humans and the Environment- a really fun class so far; General Psychology- Haven't taken it yet.. going to the first class tonight so I'll se how it goes; Intro to Archaeology- attended one class session.. we get to learn about dirt I guess; and Intro to Acting- this class was just for fun! And it is fun. We played games the whole first day. I'm also taking a 1hr/week seminar with virtually no homework that starts this Thursday. Woo!

Marching band is so much fun! It's my social group, so expect to hear about it now and then (assuming I update this part of the site..). The marching band here is about 200 members strong and completely student run; no faculty at all. We only wear full dress for football field shows (which I haven't done any of yet) otherwise we wear our "maverik" uniforms.. jeans, tennies, the blue and gold "Hell Yes!" band shirt and a white button shirt over it, unbuttoned, and our awesome yet stinky maverik hats. We also have Battle of the Bands every spring.. the college has a picnic day and a bunch of bands take turns playing through their music folder. Last one to run out of music and play their fight song wins. I can't wait.. but it's gonna suck standing outside in full dress the whole day.

Two weeks ago was the marching band's "initiation" week, so I got to come check out the school a whole week before most people. That was a fun week.. lots of meeting new people and learning to march and doing the "initiation" rituals (nothing bad I assure you) which I don't think I'll share in case any future UC Davis marching band members happen to be reading! Not likely but you never know ;)

And that's about it for now.. too much has happened since my last entry. I'll try to be more diligent about updating so that I don't have to bother picking out what to say next time. 'Til then~

First ramble! It's got nothing to do with anything, but I feel like sharing.

So, Saturday I returned from a trip up to Northwest USA.

We left last Sunday morning for Ashland, Oregon- long drive! Got there around 5:00 or so and checked into a cute little hotel, then walked around downtown Ashland. It was really hot and all the stores were closed, but we finally found a soda fountain to eat at. Drank too much Italian soda and got sick! Whoo! Then we went to the Shakespear festival.. it's basically a festival that lasts a few months and plays a lot of Shakespear plays. We saw "Much Ado About Nothing." Cute little comedy, though the actors were not only speaking in Shakespearean, but difficult to hear. It was strangely modernized.. which was wierd, because I don't believe people spoke like that in the 1920s. Almost fell asleep while watching the play, then went back to the hotel and couldn't sleep due to noisy air conditioner.

Monday we took off for Grant's Pass and checked into hotel around 1:00. We had a few hours to kill before we were scheduled for a jetboat appointment, so we went to the visitor center and asked what there was to do around town. She said "Have you seen our bears?" and we got all excited (Oh boy, we get to see bears!) "Yeah, they're all over downtown." Turned out they were bear statues, all painted differently.. cute, but she got us all excited for nothing. We decided to wander around downtown here, too. Then we went to the jetboat.. that was the most awesome thing in the whole trip. We boated down the Rogue River, saw two bald eagles, a lot of vultures eating fish, and a lot of osprey. The boat stopped at a private restaurant and we had a delicious dinner.. then went back down the river. On the way back we saw a lot of blacktail deer.. which I see a lot of around here, anyway. We also saw a really really really big beaver. It was huge. o-O then two of the jetboats kind of raced back and forth and took turns spinning to make wakes to jump over. We got wet. Much fun.

Tuesday we drove up to Tacoma. Long drive. o_O

Wednesday we visited with my Great Aunt in her retirement center.. she's 92 years old and still pretty darned healthy, lol. She had a roller walker and with it, she rolled faster than we could walk. Unfortunately, she wasn't up to a trip to the zoo, so we visited without her.. She didn't miss much, it was so hot that the animals were all hiding in the shade. Oh well. Got to see a fuzzy little baby Canadian lynx.. graaah! So cuuuute! *glee!*

Thursday, driving again. Stopped to see Mt. St. Helens... that's a really BIG crater. Whoah. Got to Salem, Oregon and ate at Tony Romas. Gotta love that hot fudge brownie skillet.. *drool*

Friday I got a tour of Willamette University, just outside of Salem. Found my new first choice college! Whoo! So pretty and.. so small! Yay! *boogies* After that we visited around Salem.. looked at the state Capitol building, which was right across the street from the college and went to the roof. The tour guide there had just graduated from Willamette.. started chatting.. then we visited a carnival/art gallery at the riverfront for a while. Finally, we visited the Oregon Gardens- absolutely beautiful, and rather inspiring. Makes me want to go have a nice garden. With a pond. And frogs. Yay. After that we drove down to Mt. Shasta.

Saturday, we visited Caverns in the Mt. Shasta area.. saw a lot of limestone cavernous formations and stuff. And bats! Yay! They were so cute! Got home around 7:00.. whoo, kinda late. After driving around up north, forgot how bad California traffic gets. Egads. x.x Felt good to sleep in my own bed, take a shower with actual water pressure, and use my own toilet. Yay for the simple pleasures in life. =)
